RACE OUTLINE

The Niseko HANAZONO Hill climb is a massed start TT cycle race, starting from the centre of Kutchan town & finishing at Go-shiki Onsen.The race climbs 617 vertical metres over about 16.0 km at an average grade of 4.6%. The hill climb will be run in conjunction with the Kutchan Jaga-matsuri. There are a number of categories ranging from elite to beginner and the focus of the event is on participation.

TIMING

Massed started time trial race. Grouped start may be adopted depends on number of racers.

SCF will record NET time for each participants and award each category in terms of NET time.

Cutoff is at Weiss Gate, 1 hour after the race start time.

REGULATION

The course will be closed to the public for 2 hours after the race start. This race is run according to the regulations of the Japan Cycling Federation (see http://www.jcf.or.jp) .

ENTRY FEE
  1. ​Bikes allowed to use are "Road Bikes, Cross Bikes, Mountain Bikes, Folding Bikes". Fixed-gear, time trial bar and extension bar such as DH bars are prohibited.

    *Above may not apply to MTB(tire width more that 1.9 inches) and Crossbike category.

  2. Bike inspection will note be conducted therefore participants shall maintenance on their own responsibilities.

    *Bike weight check will be conducted. (Bikes cannot weight less than 6.8km)

  3. If the marshals indicates participant's violation of the bike, attachment, gear, apparel regulations, he/she may be withdrawed from the race before the start. Rule violence during the race shall also be penalties.

    *Participants shall maintenance their bikes at their local bike shops before the event. (air pressure, brakes etc)

  4. J class participants (age under 18 as of 31st December, 2023 and High school students) will have gear ratio inspection (less than 7.93m)

    The gear ratio inspection shall be conducted after the reception( Road racer only)

  5. Participants shall wear helmet(JCF official) and gloves for self-protection and behave fair according to their sportsmanship.

  6. If you happen to not feel good or something unusual happens to  your bike during the race, participants shall stop riding and report to the marshal immediately.

  7. There will be a free "Baggage transport service" from the start area to the finish area which participants can check one baggage per person.

    *Please note that you will not be able to leave any valuables. Please keep valuables with with yourself at your own responsibilities.

  8. Participants are required to return your timing chip at the end of the event. Participants who do not return their timing chips will be invoiced an extra cost of JPY 10,000.

  9. All participants shall attend the opening ceremony as we may announce important information about the race.

  10. Cycling involves a degree of risk, and participants assume full responsibility for any and all damages that may arise from this event and its associated activities regardless of circumstances. The event organizers, their agents, staff, and representatives are to be blameless in any such instance.

  11. In a case of injury during the race, the organizer’s medical team only provides an emergency treatment. A participant is responsible for the full checkup and treatment after the race.

  12. The organizer will not involve about any accidents/problems that occur during the test run between the participants, please handle at your own responsibility.

  13. The participant's portrait rights(photos and videos taken during the event) belongs to Niseko HANAZONO hill Climb Committee head office(Hokkaido Events Corporation).

  14. Regarding the personal information, Niseko HANAZONO hill Climb Committee head office(Hokkaido Events Corporation) will treat according to its private policy.

[Other rules]

  • START :  We may spread one category into two groups according to the number of the riders in the group.

  • Any water/food supply from third party is prohibited.

  • To avoid crashes/ injury, participants are not allowed to ride back to town on their own after the race.
    D point class(80points).・This event is rank as
    *The points are applied only to HCF members(elite, S2~S5,M, L, J, JL).
    *Please note there are no points given to participants form the main island of Japan and non-HCF members.

[HCF Classification Notes]

  • If our race is the first race you are participating in, please heck the following information to figure out which category you can enter.
    - Newly registered JCF male cyclists or non-registered male cyclists without any cycle racing experience, 
    - between 18 and 40 years old -> S-4 class
    - between 41 and 59 years old -> S-5 class 
    - 60 years old or older -> M class
    -Non-members can be upgrade based on their cycle racing experience. Please contact to the committee for more details.​​

  • The last year's champions will be automatically entered in the category above their previous year.
    (This rule applies to all cyclists including non-registered members.)

  • Category change is not allowed, except upgrading by JCF.

  • Elite class can be applied for by JCF or HCF registered members only.

  • For Niseko HANAZONO Hill Climb first-timers who have entered the MTB (width of tyre is over 1.9cm), the above enter rules do not apply to the MTB category.
